Billy Johns is the driver of the 2J 358 Sprint as well as its owner, mechanic, and engine builder. He has been racing the 2J in the 358 division in Central Pennsylvania since the summer of 1995. Though this was his first car racing experience, Billy has always been competitive, and got his start racing BMX bikes. The car features a Maxim chassis and a DL Automotive 358 racing engine and is number 2J because Billy is William David Johns II.
When Billy isn’t behind the wheel of the 2J, he is working as a mechanic at DL Automotive. Parents Harry and Judy have been loyal supporters of Billy’s racing since the beginning. He also has twin sisters, Judy and Michelle, who are big fans of the 2J.
A self-described work-a-holic, Billy spends his spare time working on cars and houses and says “making money” is one of his favorite pastimes. He also likes horses, watching NFL football (especially the Steelers), and watching Penn State Ice Hockey. He enjoys food of all types, but especially Italian food, and, of course, Mountain Dew. His hero and role model is sprint racing legend Van May.
Billy would like to thank his family and family friends Trudy and Cecil Smith for being so supportive (morally and financially) over the years, and to acknowledge that none of this would be possible without them. In addition, he would like to thank his crew and fans for making his racing experience so much fun!
